The new SecureCloud app for iPhone and iPad: manage files, scan documents, work offline - GDPR-compliant and with Face ID protection. Now in the App Store.
The sovereign business cloud storage from Germany is now available with a completely new app for iPhone and iPad. With a document scanner, offline access and Face ID lock, the new app brings the full range of functions to mobile devices - without compromising on data protection. An Android version is already in development.
Mobile working is no longer a special case, but part of everyday working life. Whether on a construction site, in the courtroom, between two client appointments or on a business trip - access to company data must also work reliably, quickly and, above all, securely while on the move. Existing users are already familiar with mobile access to their SecureCloud storage via a third-party app. This has served its purpose - but with growing requirements in terms of user-friendliness, security and functionality, it was clear that a new app had to be developed from scratch.
This is exactly what is now available. The SecureCloud app is available to download free of charge from the Apple App Store.
It is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch from iOS 15.1 and Macs with Apple Silicon chip (from macOS 12.0). The app was developed entirely by SecureCloud GmbH in Neumarkt i.d.OPf. and - like the desktop and web version - relies on a sovereign cloud infrastructure with hosting exclusively in German data centers.
The SecureCloud app is not a stripped-down file browser, but a fully-fledged tool for everyday mobile work.
The central functions:
Browse, upload and download files
The entire cloud storage is available on mobile devices
Files can be uploaded directly from the smartphone or downloaded to the device, for example to share with clients, colleagues or partners
Document scanner with PDF export
Contracts, receipts or minutes can be scanned directly via the camera and saved as a PDF in the cloud. This eliminates the need to use third-party apps, whose data protection standards are often unclear.
Offline mode
Selected files can be marked for offline access. This allows you to continue working even without an internet connection - for example in areas with poor network coverage or during air travel.
Manage multiple accounts
If you work for different organizations or clients, you can manage multiple SecureCloud accounts in one app and switch seamlessly.
App lock with Face ID
The app can also be secured using Face ID. This protects sensitive company data even if the unlocked device falls into the wrong hands.
Favorites and activity history
Frequently used files can be marked as favorites. The activity history shows which files were last edited or uploaded - for a maximum overview, even with large amounts of data.
Light and dark mode: The app adapts to the system settings and supports both display modes.
The combination of mobile access, document scanner and GDPR-compliant infrastructure opens up very different benefits depending on the industry:
Law firms and notary's offices, lawyers and notaries can view pleadings, draft contracts or land register excerpts directly at the court location without having to send sensitive client files by email. The integrated scanner digitizes signed documents on site and immediately stores them in encrypted form in the cloud.
During the tax audit or client appointment on site, documents can be scanned directly and assigned to the relevant client library. The multi-account function is particularly valuable here: consultants who work for several companies can switch between data rooms in seconds.
Medical practices, clinics and care facilities are subject to particularly strict requirements for the protection of patient data. The Face ID lock ensures that no unauthorized access to findings, doctor's letters or billing documents is possible, even if the device is unattended. The offline mode ensures access even in areas with restricted WLAN.
Field staff - for example in the building authority, food inspection or youth welfare office - can capture photos, logs and forms directly on site and upload them to the cloud. The end-to-end German infrastructure meets the requirements for digital sovereignty, which are becoming increasingly mandatory for public authorities.
On the construction site or in the production hall, drawings, test reports and safety data sheets are often needed precisely when there is no desk within reach. With the offline function, critical documents are available at all times, even without mobile phone reception.
Data economy is not an afterthought, but an architectural principle. According to the data protection information in the App Store, the app only collects data that is absolutely necessary for its functionality - specifically email address, user ID and usage-related data. No data is collected for tracking or advertising purposes. The entire infrastructure is hosted in Germany and is fully compliant with the GDPR. This is a decisive factor for companies in regulated industries: mobile access to client or patient files must meet the same compliance requirements as stationary access. An Android version will follow.
The iOS version marks the start. An Android version is already in development and will follow in the coming months. SecureCloud will therefore be available on all common mobile platforms with its own, natively developed app.
With the new iOS app, SecureCloud is taking a big step forward: companies that consciously opt for European, GDPR-compliant cloud storage no longer have to make any compromises when it comes to mobile working. The app combines suitability for everyday use - scanner, offline mode, multi-account - with the security standards that SecureCloud stands for: German infrastructure, full data control, Nobackdoor.
